WOM App

UX/UI and Product Designer Freelancer

WOM App is a free mentoring app to help women in the job market.
My work was UX/UI and Product Designer, I created the app design, design system and the app visual design.

The app is on the Front and Beck End development.
Some friends and I created the app together, on a project for a
tech event for women.

Research methods

We conducted a mixed research with quantitative survey with some qualitative questions. We did the survey with 13 people.

Target Audience

To understand this womens

Mixed Survey

Quantitative and Qualitative questions

To understand the user flow and usability, we did:

Benchmarketing

A competitive Analysis

Usability Test

To know what need to

be improved

Analysis

We used the following analysis methods to understand the research results, the users, and align the insights from women and the usability issues:

Affinity Diagram

Matrix

Coustumer

Journey Map

Insights

100%

Feel stressed with the busy routine

15,38%

Feel the need of psychological help

100%

Feel that the job market

is sexist

53,85%

Say it's hard to find good mentoring and courses

Persona and User Journey

After the analysis, we created the persona.

Hypothesis

How we could use technology to help
women enter and stay in the job market?

Impact X Effort Matrix

We used the Impact X Effort Matrix for prioritization process.

Create a mentoring app

An app that connects women with leaders in their fields, so they can have mentoring and/or give mentorship.

Networking

Share courses and vacancies.

Psychological help

Provide psychological help.

Design the solution

User Flow and Information Architecture

We analized the apps in the market, to decided wich funcionalities we wanted on our app.

Low Fidelity Prototype

For the sake of time, I had to do the low/medium fidelity wireframe in Figma and I used the Heuristic's and fixed the errors.

Design System

We used Color Psychology to guide us. I used the brand colors that one of my friends created. I create the app on the dark mode.

Usability Test

I did the usability test with 7 people.
I used the HEART metric.

Test results

People said they missed the edit photo button so they could change the photo more easily.

Solution

I have placed the edit photo button in the bottom corner of the photo. I decided to change other's users stories from the home page to a notification page, so the home page would focus more on mentoring and courses.

Functional Prototype

I used Figma to create s fucntional prototype and used Material Design's 3, validated with Heuristic's Law and improved what was needed.

Next steps

The app is on the Front and Back End development and in the future this app will be launched.

Conclusion

Point I learned:

  1. Working with people you don't know and who do things differently was a challenge, but we were all willing to collaborate, so we managed.

  2. Delegate functions.

  3. I learned a lot.

This was a case of study of the Hackathon das Manas, but we decided to work on this app to sell the app.

Thank you for coming till here!
